Optical Metrology and Optoelectronic Systems
We work in the business area "Optical Metrology and Optoelectronic Systems" (OMOS) on photonic future technologies for the 21st century. We focus on topics that serve the long-term improvement of the quality of life. The focus is in the field of optical metrology and non-destructive testing mainly for industrial applications. The adjacent spectral ranges such as the THz or X-ray range are also taken into account. We are also working on new concepts for 3D imaging and information processing. As part of our activities, not only concepts but also practical measuring devices and practical prototypes of optical or optoelectronic systems and technologies are realized. The business area is divided into working groups 'coherent optics and nanophotonics' as well as 'quantum sensorics' and the competence center 'optical metrology'. The competence center serves as a 'shop window' and demonstration center for industrial customers. To implement our ideas and concepts, we can rely on extensive laboratory equipment in the optical field and also on nanostructuring techniques for photonic structures, as well as THz and X-ray techniques.
