The School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University offers students from the Department of Production Engineering (FB4) at the University of Bremen the possibility to take part in an individual exchange program.

Who can participate in the exchange programme?

Both undergraduate and graduate students as well as PhD-students are welcome to apply for the program.

Important Dates

There are no explicit deadlines for an application. However, you should plan your exchange well ahead and take into consideration the academic terms, especially if you are interested in taking lectures at SJTU. The winter semester starts at the beginning of September, the summer semester at the beginning of March.

How to apply?

For a successful application please provide the following documents  in English:

• Letter of motivation of maximum 2 pages, where you state why you would like to go to Shanghai and what are you aiming at during the stay (e.g. take courses, write a thesis, make an internship etc.)
• Curriculum Vitae, including your picture
• Certified transcript of records
• "Data sheet for outgoing students" from the International Office
• Certificate of your English skills. The minimum language skill level required is B2 according the European Reference Framework which is equivalent to TOEFL 87iBT/213cBT/550pBT or IELTS 6.0

Next steps

After the selection process you will receive an email confirming whether your application has been accepted or not. If you have been accepted your application documents will be forwarded to the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the SJTU for further processing.

Will I be eligible for funding?

There are no tuition fees to be paid, however you will have to provide own funding for accommodation and living cost. Please also refer to the International Office at the University of Bremen for possibilities of funding German students.
