SPP 1138 Process Scaling
Priority program „ Modelling of scaling effects on manufacturing processes“
The priority program "Modelling of scaling effects on manufacturing processes", which was initiated and coordinated by Prof. Vollertsen, was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the years 2002 to 2009. After about seven year's intensive investigations, which were divided into 3 phases, this priority program was successfully ended with a closing-colloquium held on 11th/12th Feb. 2009 in Bonn.
The work within this program was featured by interdisciplinary
cooperation between disciplines forming technology, cutting
manufacturing, mechanic and materials science. The focus of the work
was on the phenomena, which appear during scaling a manufacturing
process according to the theory of similarity. The common problems
during scientific works from different projects were handled in
correspondingly research groups. The knowledge acquired in this
priority program builds now an established fundament in developing and
construction of novel processes.
