Control of distortion during fiber laser beam welding taking the example of a shaft-hub connection (SFB 570-B10)
The knowledge about the interaction between residual stresses and
welding distortion is well-known. However, the interaction between
existing distortion potentials within the process chain of the
production process and the influence of welding distortion before the
final heat treatment are not known at the moment. Laser beam welding
leads to the release of distortion potentials and adds further
distortion potential into the welded parts. The understanding for
different distortion potentials in view of the whole process chain
provides the ability to control the distortion at the welded
components.
The aim of this study is the controlling and the understanding of the
interaction between the distortion potential of the welding process and
the already existing distortion potentials within the shaft-hub
connection. In addition to the experimental investigations, a
simulation model will be generated in the FEM application SYSWELD.
