Tool Materials
Layer to layer techniques for generating optimized tool materials for micro forming (SFB 747-C1)
For macro forming several possibilities exist in order to control
the flux of the work piece for the generation of crinkle free part.
Standard techniques are local lubrication and draw-beads. However in
micro forming these methods can mostly not be applied due to the small
dimensions. In the project tools with special locally adapted surface
properties like friction coefficient will be developed by selective
laser melting. The intent is an optimized controlled work-piece flux by
controlling the friction coefficient between the tool and the work
piece. The friction coefficient will be controlled by the chemical
composition of the material.
