Control of distortion during manufacturing process chain for car body components (SFB 570-T6)
Aim of the project is to minimize the distortion for a typical manufacturing process of a car body. The process chain contains casting and forming of individual parts, followed by assembling through a welding process and finally a heat treatment. The distortion mechanisms will be investigated by consequent observance of the distortion potentials in every manufacturing step and the impact on the following step. For the joining process of all components a cold arc welding process is applied. The component distortion will be continuously measured during the welding process. All experimental results are additionally used to optimize the simulation methods for the cooperation partner DAIMLER.
