New Microreactor Systems for the Synthesis of Ion Liquids (KZ 16SV1965)

Aim of this joint research project is the synthesis of ionic liquids in a micro setup. With the help of this setup the chemical properties of the production process can be controlled. The part of BIAS in this project is the development of an integrated temperature measurement with several measurement points along the reaction line. Therefore a fiber measurement system based on fiber bragg gratings has been implemented which allows the measurement of the temperature at 8 measurement points by backscattering of a small amount of the incident light of a broadband light source. The correct function of the setup has been demonstrated during the production of ion liquids. In the image the head for the fiber lead through into the reactor system is shown. The measurement points start at the point where both educts get together and end where the reaction has finished.
