Influence of AC magnetic fields on weld bead dilution in laser beam welding (Vo 530/29-1)
To improve dilution in laser beam welding with Si-containing filler fire, the magnetic stirring has been suggested to directly influence melt bead dynamics. A model is developed to describe the complex interaction between electromagnetic and fluid dynamic phenomena of magnetic stirring with AC magnetic fields. The model is therefore continuously validated and optimized by experimental data (e.g. high-speed videos, X-ray measurements, EDX), to enable it for numerical experiments.
