Hybrid
Production of Aluminium-Steel Dissimilar Joints Using Laser and/or Plasma Beams (Microstructure and Strength) (VO 530/21-2)
In the framework of this project within the DFG research unit 505 „Hybridstrukturen“, laser MIG hybrid welding of dissimilar aluminium-steel joints was investigated. Significant correlations between process parameters and joint properties were elucidated, supported by analytical modelling of the wetting process. Thus, among other findings, the reproducible production of formable aluminium-steel tailored hybrid blanks at joining speeds around 6 m/min was enabled. Application potentials arise in all fields of lightweight design, especially in the transportation industries.
