Time resolved investigation of impact induced Lamb-waves on carbon fiber reinforced plastic (JU 142/60-1)

Aim of this project is the development of an optically based measuring system for the detection of impact induced Lamb-waves on carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components, which enables a full field measurement with a time-resolved coverage of an extensive area. The device is based on digital shearography. Due to the principle of self-reference, the shearographic phase distribution gives the difference of deformation of adjacent surface points. To determine the deformation difference a mathematical reconstruction tool is used, whereby only one recording of the oscillation state is necessary. To cover the phase distribution of the oscillation state the spatial phase shifting technique is used. So the digital shearography and the spatial phase shifting technique are realized with in a Mach-Zehnder-Interferometer.
