Distortion Engineering
Metrology for the in-process distortion measurement
The project „Distortion Engineering” treats the generation and the control of distortion along the whole production chain. A prerequisite for the investigation of the distortion mechanisms and the implementation of control loops is a suitable metrology to capture the distortion in-process. In Sub-Project B3 of SFB 570 the speckle photography has been developed and implemented for in-situ measurement of shafts in the jet field which are heated up to 850°C. The determination of the deformations is based on a comparison of the speckle patterns of two states. The numerical calculation of the in-plane displacement field is performed by a cross-correlation algorithm. In the third funding period, which has already begin, speckle photography is to be adapted to the new geometry of a gearwheel.
